Turritella Agate is sourced from the Green River Formation in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. This agate was formed about 50 million years ago when the Rocky Mountains were young. The fossilized shells are from freshwater snails called Elimia tenera that lived in lakes, rivers, and swamps. They shared the planet with our mammal ancestors who were just beginning to diversify into the mammals we know today.
